I'm a bit like that too about locking the doors and making sure my purse is in my bag... something like this though will only make you check it even more every time you walk past. And i completely agree, how in the hell is the wind supposed to open that particular door? was it a tornado? no! I agree as well on the issue of teen pageants. They promote this idea that, like child pageants, beauty is everything. It gives birth to this mind set of, "I'm a queen and you're not. Now get out of my way, troll!" Like the world is theirs for the taking, and everyone else is merely a stepping stone. Then there's the fact that every contestant I've seen on pageant shows (when surfing channels, I mean), comes off like a complete idiot. Like that one who's fame came from "The Iraq" incident...

I totally agree with you! I remember waaay back in the olden days when I was a kid, one of the local department stores had a 'beauty contest' for little girls. There was no makeup, no slutty costumes (although lots of ruffles!), no dancing/acting/singing. It was for charity, and I remember one little girl got scared and didn't want to go up on the platform. Her mom scooped her up, held her tightly, and they went to sit down. No pressure.

Now, I don't mean to be judgmental here, but one thing I noticed about that show (Yes, I watched it ONCE...was too horrified and totally pissed to watch it again!) is that the majority of these pageants are held in Southern states. I checked this area, just out of curiosity (Great Northwest) and came up empty on beauty pageants for children. If they're happening here, they're well hidden!

To be totally honest, I'm not a fan of beauty pageants for teens/young adults, either. Far to much emphasis is put on appearance by advertising, we shouldn't be condoning such thinking. How many girls suffer eating disorders because they believe how they look is the most important thing in life?

Child beauty pageants should be criminalized. Period. But that's just my opinion.

Thanks, Garrett. I couldn't agree more about how we need to rally together. It's a tough business. I just hope everyone loves the book as much as I do. I put so much of myself into it. I mean everything. I once read that the best writing is found where you can actually walk away feeling like you know the author, because of how much of the author's soul is there. Well, people are going to get to know me pretty well, I think.....LOL.

I write out the bios for the characters, and add to those as I learn more about them, but whenever I try to use an outline, I veer so far away from it that it's useless. I always have an idea of where I'm going, but I allow the Muse and the characters to chose the path we take to get there! What's great about writing is, it allows each of us to work in whatever way is the most comfortable...there are no 'set rules' demanding strict adherence. (Which is a good thing for me, I always seem to do things differently from everyone else! LOL!)

Whatever works for us is the way to go)

You're welcome, Garrett. I loved posting this one. I had to, in fact. It was so therapeutic, you know? Being able to really open myself up like this is so hard. I'm more of a private person. Swallowing my short-comings, and all that. But at some point, we all have them, don't we? It's a lesson I've had to force myself to learn....how to be more open about those times when life just isn't going my way. So posting this really helped me, too, believe it or not.

That's very true. Scammers are scum. Back when I started the querying process, being the newbie that I was to the whole scene, I researched everything I could. One of the first things I found was that legitimate agents never charge a penny. But, that's neither here nor there. You live and you learn. In the end, all your hard work will pay off. I always try to find the silver lining. Cliche, I know, but true nonetheless. So we move on to bigger and better things. Good luck.
